| ♦ ♦ ♦ Welcome to a New Year of Creative Writing 2008! Hello All This year we've got a whole lot of things planned for the creative writers. We'll be holding a General Meeting this week on the 12/03 to ring in the new committee, we're also looking at creating our own zine, new ideas for the website, and so much more. So hang around, old members, and new, and enjoy yourselves. If you haven't already joined and would like to, or if you want to come and hang out with us at our meetings to discuss writing, publishing, ideas, or just to muck around, come to the Menzies building, every Wednesday 1pm-2pm at the H10 lecture hall! So, that's H-10 in the menzies building, every Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm. See you there! Got any questions? E-mail us at creativewriters@monashclubs.org ♦ ♦ ♦ |
For our existing members:
1. Posting made easy: We have a new feature called the "Tiny MCE" which allows you to edit your stories before you upload them. No need to remember to add tags, to open and close them etc. The Tiny MCE centers your work, bolds, italics, underlines and hyperlinks all with a few simple clicks of a button.
2. New Challenges Feature: Ever had a great plot-line running through your head but couldn't be bothered writing it down? Well, we now have a new Challenges feature which allows you to issue a challenge for other writers to write. Simply fill in what kind of challenge you're announcing (whether its writing a plausible tale of a grandmother who enjoys wearing pinks socks and who saves the world in 30 mins, or if its about a three-eyed vampire who just wants to be loved- it's all up to you), the instructions and rules and post it up. Sit back and wait for the replies!
Cheers!

Welcome to thee, Creative Writers of 'oh-eight!'. A hearty handshake, a quick hug and a warm tickle to you, oh bard of bards, oh teller of tales, oh grammatically-correct-anally-retentive creature!
Please, feel welcome to look around the website, to read, to review, to send e-mails, and most of all to allow your creative juices to flow, and to post whatever your heart desires.
Enjoy, my dears!

Hello everyone.
I'd like to apologise profusely to those authors who had posted a story almost a month ago and didn't find their work on the website. There was a minor glitch on the website that didn't allow me to actually SEE those posted stories. It's all fixed now (I've found I had a backlog of about 15 stories almost) so you can all read the wonderful new pieces we have online. :)

Just a quick note Ladies and Gents. To use the forum, you need to be registered. The forum and this site are two different databases, meaning that even if you already registered here, you're STILL not registered to use forum. I'm so sorry about the inconvenience, but I still haven't figured out a way to allow you to only register once for the whole site.
So take five minutes out of your time and go register for the forum here .
Cheers!

Occasionally, (and I do this quiet often myself) one forgets when/where to place a comma, or whether the word to be used is 'practise' or 'practice', and for this reason, I'm going to begin writing up a "Frequently Asked Questions" page that answers these questions on this site in order to help writers proof read their work before they post it up.
This may take a while to complete, and for this reason I ask everyone if they could spare five minutes here and there and write up a paragraph or two on some rules of the english language in order to help me out. I would really appreciate any input from anyone. Send anything you wish to er...donate here: My E-mail. Please title your email so that I know it's not spam.
Many Thanks

I know we had a slow start, but if we keep going on this track, I'm sure that we'll soon be having a hundred hits a day for this website. Keep it up everyone!
Cheers!

There will most likely be a few kinks here and there until we get everything sorted out and working perfectly.
There is a FAQ page that will help anyone with submission difficulties, and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
There will be inter-club competitions held, which Samantha Rawson will be taking care of, as well as outer-club competitions. For more information about competitions in general please go here.
